man and women on stage in a vintage style black and white photo

I’ve been thinking of many ways to present the performing arts in images. I’ve been lucky enough to try a few already, but I have so many more I want to do! So, I’ve been really busy trying to make that happen, and perhaps neglecting my blog here…

The “Golden Age of Hollywood” was the theme here. Why? Well, because number one the idea of it is accessible to many people for one. However, the main reason I chose this style is for the dramatic lighting! Back then, the photographers of the era, like George Hurrell (a master – he defined the look) only had the same hard lights that the film industry had, and those probably came from the theatrical industry before then. So the look is dramatic, powerful, exciting….like a performance should be!

Thanks to the dancers who jumped into this theme head first, and brought all of their own really great costumes!
